Future Poems

IN DEVELOPMENT throughout 2025/26.

Future Poems is a new performance work that transforms poetry into a live, collective art form. Created in collaboration with young people in each location it visits, the project reimagines poetic expression as both performance and community building.

At the heart of Future Poems is a series of workshops with youth ages 8 to 18, where participants explore the full spectrum of poetry - from elegy to haiku, sonnet to ode, and free verse. Through reading, writing, and reciting together, these young voices shape a dynamic 'poetry manifesto playlist' that speaks to the present moment and envisions the future through their eyes.

Rooted in Theatre Replacement's ongoing commitment to locally engaged and globally connected work, Future Poems emphasizes cultural exchange and collaboration. We are currently seeking partnership and presentation opportunities in the development of the work and its process for meeting new communities.
