It’s Maiko here, I hope you’re all doing ok out there, and had a great weekend VOTING! I’m excited to reach out to let you know that our latest version of our FUTURE POEMS zine is hot off the presses! This time, we’ve been inspired by our friends from Not Quite Ready, and are using the form and theme of collage as a container to share ruminations on artmaking from some of our closest colleagues and collaborators.

By donating to TR to receive your copy, you will be directly supporting our annual festival, HOLD ON LET GO. From now until Tuesday December 1st (Giving Tuesday) with donations of $30 or more, we’ll mail you a copy of FUTURE POEMS - Volume 3, with all proceeds going towards supporting artist fees and production expenses for the Festival. To celebrate the zine’s launch, we’re hosting an intimate friend-raiser event on Tuesday November 24th. This will be a special night with limited space, so please see full details below. If you join us for this evening, you’ll not only receive a copy of FUTURE POEMS - Volume 3, but I’ll also share some behind the scenes insights on the work that TR is excited to be sharing in the near future, alongside sweets and surprises from some TR collaborators. I hope you can join us!

We began the FUTURE POEMS zines to share what we’re thinking about and energized about, what we’re working on and what we’re wrestling with. Volume 1 celebrated TR’s 20th anniversary after a lot of change, and Volume 2 shared reflections from our inaugural Accelerator Lab cohort. This latest edition brings together three writings about thinking through making: a reflection on what our current course at TR is revealing by myself and our Artistic Producer Kyle Loven; a conversation on the impulse behind a collage-based approach to listening to new music by our friends Veda Hille, Mauricio Pauly and Jessie (Ungerleider) Nagel (Not Quite Ready); and an essay on a theatre-making process shaped by the energizing assembly of disparate elements by our 2025 COLLIDER artist, ellis cheadle. The zine also unfolds into a beautiful poster made by Jessie (Ungerleider) Nagel!

Like so many arts initiatives, funding HOLD ON LET GO, our artist-centred festival for experimental Vancouver performance makers, is becoming increasingly challenging (we only received a small portion of the necessary funding it takes to put on 2027’s program). We’re committed to keeping HOLD ON LET GO going this season — we’ve seen the direct impact it has on our local indie performance scene, and we believe in the power of experimental work to expand the way we see the world right now. We can’t wait to share 2027’s exciting program with you, launching later this fall.
